Dr Rebecca South
Dr. South qualified as a doctor at The University of NSW in 1995. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Diploma with The Royal Australian College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society.
With a strong interest in sexual and reproductive health, Dr. South has worked for many years at Ashfield Family Planning NSW Clinic. She is very experienced in Implanon and IUD insertion; all types of copper IUDs, Mirena and the new, low-dose hormonal IUD, Kyleena. She has expertise assisting women managing menopause symptoms and is up to date with recent advances in hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Dr South provides assessment and treatment of sexual difficulties and sexual health screening. She is very happy to see all people with a cervix for cervical screening testing and is able to make this procedure as comfortable and relaxed as possible for those who find this examination difficult.
Dr South provides information and counselling regarding unplanned pregnancy and she is able to prescribe and supervise medical abortion.
A regular examiner for the RACGP fellowship examinations, Dr. South is also a senior lecturer at the Sexual Health and Family Planning Certificate Course and delivers IUD and Implanon insertion training for other doctors and nurses.
